Job Title: Trade Assistant – Sheeting Section

About the Role:
We are seeking a hands-on Trade Assistant to join a dynamic manufacturing team. This role involves supporting truck body manufacturing operations, assisting skilled tradespeople, and contributing to a safe and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate is flexible, proactive, and able to follow instructions while working both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:

• Drill holes and rivet Curtainsider and Van bodies
• Lift and hold Colorbond sheets in position while being fixed to truck bodies
• Run lighting wires and fix lights to truck bodies
• Assist Truck Body Builders with tasks within your capability
• Perform tasks with minimal supervision and follow instructions accurately
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Adhere to occupational health and safety requirements, including reporting hazards and using PPE
• Participate in manual handling tasks as required

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a similar manufacturing or hands-on role
• Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
• Basic numeracy skills (weights, measurements, volumes)
• Comfortable using hand tools
• Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team
• Physically fit and able to climb ladders, bend, kneel, lift up to 10kg without assistance, and work in a physically demanding environment
• Positive attitude, adaptable, and able to remain calm under pressure

Work Environment:

• Manufacturing/steel/metal fabrication factory setting
• PPE required (safety boots, high-visibility clothing, hearing and eye protection)
• Team-oriented environment with forklifts and trucks operating on-site
