Location: Parramatta, NSW
Salary: $65,000 per annum + Super
Position: SMT Operator
Hours: 7:30am to 4:15pm or 8am to 5pm shift 

Overtime: Available


We are seeking a permanent SMT Operator, who will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining surface mount technology equipment to ensure the precise and efficient assembly of electronic circuit boards. This role also involves quality control, inventory management, and troubleshooting to support smooth production and meet high-quality standards.

  • Competitive rate $65,000 per annum + super
  • Full-time permanent role, Day Shift

Reporting to the Technical Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Set up and calibrate SMT machines (pick and place, printers, reflow ovens) according to job specifications.
  • Load and unload circuit boards, ensuring correct alignment and safe handling.
  • Monitor and ensure accurate placement of components and soldering quality.
  • Carry out visual inspections and quality checks during production.
  • Manage and track SMT component inventory to support production schedules.
  • Collect and verify components against the Bill of Materials (BOM) prior to use.
  • Conduct regular stocktakes, report discrepancies, and assist with inventory audits.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on SMT equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and well-equipped workspace.
  • Support process improvements and report any issues to the Production Manager.
  • Accurately maintain production and maintenance records.
  • Follow all safety procedures and ensure compliance with WHS regulations.

What You’ll Need:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet production deadlines.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and tracking production and inventory. 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification or training in electronics, manufacturing or related field is a bonus.
  • Proven expereience operating SMT machines or in a similar role in electronics manufacturing. 
  • Experience in inventory management, including stocktaking and componenet tracking. 
  • Familiarity with SMT components, assembly processes and electronic circuit board construction.
