Senior Mobile Engineer

My client are currently looking for a Senior Mobile Software Engineer to lead mobile development efforts. This position comes as a remote first across Australia. The company builds self-service tools that simplify complex data and compliance workflows, especially in emerging tech sectors. This is a product-focused, developer-first environment using TypeScript and the MERN stack. You'll join a high-performing engineering team and take full ownership of the mobile experience across iOS and Android platforms.

The Role:

You’ll lead the design, development, and deployment of native mobile applications. Collaborating closely with product, design, and engineering teams, you'll transform complex workflows into intuitive mobile experiences and help define the company’s mobile technology direction.


Technical Requirements:

• 4+ years of professional experience in mobile application development, either using React Native or native technologies (Swift/Objective-C for iOS, Kotlin/Java for Android).
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and deep familiarity with the React Native ecosystem, including state management, navigation, native modules, and modern React patterns.
• Proven ability to build, test (with tools like Jest, Detox, or Appium), and deploy high-quality apps to both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
• Comfortable with mobile development tools and workflows such as Expo, Xcode, Android Studio, Fastlane, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of performance tuning, accessibility, and platform-specific UI/UX best practices.

What You'll Do:

• You'll take the lead in building well-structured, efficient mobile apps using React Native and TypeScript—occasionally leaning on native tools like Swift or Kotlin when needed—to solve real user problems with clean, scalable code.
• You'll work closely with designers, product managers, and other engineers to turn complex requirements into intuitive mobile experiences, aligning technical decisions with business goals.
• From concept to app store release, you’ll manage the full lifecycle of mobile features, ensuring they’re high-quality, performant, and tailored to the specific needs of iOS and Android platforms.
• As a mobile specialist, you’ll influence architectural decisions, shape our mobile development standards, and contribute to evolving components or internal frameworks that support rapid, reliable delivery.
• You’ll play a key role in upholding code quality—reviewing pull requests, improving testing strategies across unit, integration, and UI levels, and advocating for automation wherever possible.
• You'll continuously look for ways to improve—whether it’s refactoring parts of the codebase, streamlining developer workflows, or optimizing app performance.
• Mentorship is part of the role: you'll support teammates looking to grow their mobile skills and help build a strong engineering culture around mobile best practices.
