Job Description
An experienced Mechanical / Hydraulic Fitter with strong hydraulics skills is required to maintain and repair machinery in a plastics manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on plastic injection moulding machines, die casting machines etc.
• Diagnose, repair, and replace faulty hydraulic components including pumps, valves, cylinders, and hoses.
• Maintain and repair mechanical components such as gears, bearings, belts, chains, motors, and drives.
• Perform alignment, calibration, and setup of machines to meet production specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams.
• Monitor machine performance and recommend modifications to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot faults and minimise downtime.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with workplace health and safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report on completed work.
Skills & Experience
• Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter (or equivalent) with significant experience in hydraulic systems.
• Proven experience on plastic injection moulding machines or similar machinery such as die casting machines, plastic extrusion lines, blow moulding, thermoforming, rubber moulding, or hydraulic presses.
• Strong mechanical and hydraulic fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure in a production environment.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and standards in mechanical and hydraulic systems.
