Maintenance Fitter

About the Role
Our client, a well-established manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join their production team. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining plant and equipment to ensure maximum uptime, safe operations, and business continuity.
This is a hands-on position where you will carry out preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and service plant facilities and fixed equipment in line with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
• Minimise downtime across all production lines through timely response to breakdowns and urgent tasks.
• Implement and follow preventative maintenance schedules to optimise equipment performance.
• Conduct fault-finding, problem analysis, and routine maintenance on mechanical systems.
• Manage spare parts registry and ensure accuracy of records in MEX (maintenance software).
• Work collaboratively with the production team to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Contribute ideas for continuous improvement and participate in minor project work.
• Uphold company safety, environmental, and quality standards at all times.
• Respond to after-hours service calls and work overtime/weekends when required.

What We’re Looking For

• Trade qualification as a Maintenance Fitter (or similar).
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing production plant equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/manuals.
• Proficient in preventative maintenance practices and scheduling.
• Familiarity with MEX or similar CMMS software (desirable).
• A proactive, safety-first mindset with strong teamwork and communication skills.
