Job Title: Fabrication Manager
Location: Western Sydney (Smithfield area)
Salary: $125,000–$140,000 + super
Type: Permanent, Day Shift

About the Role

A well-established construction and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Fabrication Manager to oversee day-to-day workshop operations. This is a permanent day shift role where you will lead a smaller, skilled fabrication team and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily fabrication activities
  • Lead and supervise a small team of welders and fabricators
  • Allocate labour, machinery, and materials efficiently
  • Monitor production progress and address delays 
  • Ensure fabrication meets drawings, specifications, and standards
  • Oversee quality checks, inspections, and documentation
  • Manage procurement, materials, and consumables to control costs
  • Liaise with engineering, QA, and site teams to support delivery
  • Maintain a safe workshop and drive continuous improvement
Key Requirements
  • Trade qualification in Boilermaking, Welding, or Metal Fabrication
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in structural steel fabrication
  • Strong experience within the Australian construction industry
  • Proven supervisory or management experience 
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications
  • Experience with quality management systems and inspection processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills
  • Current forklift licence and overhead crane ticket
  • White Card
