Location: Canberra - 5 days on-site

About the Role: An opportunity exists for an experienced IT Enterprise Architect to provide strategic architectural leadership across a complex, security-focused technology environment.
This role is responsible for ensuring the organisation’s IT landscape is aligned to current and future business objectives, is secure by design, scalable, and supports long-term transformation.
You will define and govern enterprise architecture standards, guide technology investment decisions, and work closely with executive and senior stakeholders to translate business strategy into actionable technology roadmaps.

You will define and govern enterprise architecture standards, guide technology investment decisions, and work closely with executive and senior stakeholders to translate business strategy into actionable technology roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and govern the Enterprise Architecture framework, principles and roadmaps.
- Ensure IT strategy, architecture and investment decisions align with business objectives and future growth.
- Document and maintain current-state and future-state architectures, including supporting process flows.
- Provide strategic guidance on emerging technologies, assessing suitability, risks and opportunities.
- Identify, assess and mitigate enterprise-wide IT operational and technical risks.
- Embed security-by-design principles across all architecture domains.
- Support compliance with government and defence security frameworks.
- Partner with senior business leaders to translate strategic priorities into technology direction.
- Engage with governance forums to ensure architectural alignment across major initiatives.
- Provide architectural input into business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
- NV2 AGSVA security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain.
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in Enterprise Architecture or senior Solution Architecture roles.
- Strong experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF).
- Proven capability in developing architecture roadmaps and leading enterprise-wide technology change.
- Experience designing and governing cloud architectures (AWS and/or Azure).
- Solid understanding of Defence and/or Government security frameworks.
- Broad technical knowledge across infrastructure, cybersecurity, applications, cloud, integration and data.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, able to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Collaborative, influential and able to drive alignment across multiple teams.
- Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant certifications are desirable but not essential.
- Managing competing priorities and complex timelines in a dynamic, security-sensitive environment.
- Building strong, trusted relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders to support business outcomes.

- Australian citizenship is mandatory.
- Eligibility for Defence security clearance is required.
- A six-month probationary period applies.
- Pre-employment medical, psychometric and/or skills assessments may be required.
- All work must comply with organisational policies, with strong adherence to security, safety and quality standards.
- ITAR access requirements apply under relevant Defence exemptions.
