Our client, a leading supplier in the defence sector, is seeking a motivated Trade Assistant / Metal Finisher to join their production facility in Carrum Downs.
This multi-faceted role provides critical workshop support, ensuring smooth manufacturing flow across CNC machining, manual component finishing, and precision assembly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Load and unload Horizontal and Vertical CNC Machine Centres and record component quantities.
• Metal Finishing: Perform precision hand finishing, deburring, and washing of machined components.
• Carry out basic mechanical assembly, including fitting recoils and captive fasteners.
• Use forklifts and pallet jacks for loading/unloading delivery trucks; process subcontractor goods and complete data entry.
• Conduct periodic inspections against quality control work orders and assist with scheduled machinery maintenance.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid LF Forklift licence (experience with walk-behind forklifts highly regarded).
• Intermediate Microsoft Office capability (Word/Excel) with high-level data entry accuracy.
• Capability to comfortably manage moderate manual handling and warehouse duties.
• High attention to detail, strong time-management skills, and a safety-first mindset.
