Data Analyst | Public Sector | 6-Month daily rate Contract
We are currently seeking a skilled Data Analyst for a public sector organization in Melbourne. This is an initial 6-month contract starting in mid April 2026, focused on delivering critical data initiatives related to digital evidence management and compliance reporting.
The Role
In this role, you will lead the identification and preparation of data sources to support key business requirements. You will work across two primary workstreams: automating compliance monitoring for hardware usage and integrating enterprise identity management systems for improved access control.

Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Gathering: Conduct workshops with technical and business stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, and analytical use cases.
- Data Profiling & Analysis: Profile and validate data to identify trends, anomalies, and quality issues while ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Solution Mapping: Complete source-to-target mappings and define transformation rules for end-to-end reporting solutions.
- Insights & Visualization: Develop dashboards, reports, and exploratory analysis to support stakeholder decision-making.
- Project Collaboration: Provide status updates to Project Managers regarding risks, dependencies, and delivery status.
- Agile Expertise: Proven experience working in fast-paced Agile environments using tools like Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of data profiling, exploratory data analysis (EDA), and data modeling concepts.
- Complex Environments: Demonstrated ability to navigate enterprise operational systems and address data integration constraints.
- Data Governance: A solid grasp of data security, role-based access, and the responsible handling of sensitive information.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex data findings into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
